Kigoma North Parliamentarian, Mr. Zitto Z. Kabwe has been picked to attend this year’s Aspen Ideas Festival — the Colorado-based annual intellectual gathering.

By accepting the scholarship Zitto will, during the one week event, be able to meet and dialogue with notable global distinguished personalities from all spheres of influence. Timetable released by the organiser’s shows that the event, divided into two sessions, will be held June 26 through July 2, this year.
Basing on its tradition, daily forums during both sessions will combine with new presentation and discussion formats involving Show and Tell, a week-long event involving inventors, designers, and innovators.

There will also be debates regarded as civil discourse at its best as well as Aspen Challenges involving young people tackling toughest problems. Other interactive activities include plenary sessions, panels, one-on-one interviews and presentations. Participants are free to choose on which event to attend among the multiple, concurrent tutorial sessions daily.

In addition to casual conversations, there will also be book signings, exhibits, and presentations on campus between attendees and speakers, offering further opportunities for exchange. Evening Exchanges and in-town events in venues around Aspen will enable participants to meet with Aspen Institute moderators, Atlantic editors and other prominent national journalists together with presenters for substantive conversation.

Participants will also have opportunity to learn more through films and performances.Some of the topics included in the programme are: How do children – and adults –learn in the 21st century? And what are the disruptive ideas that will shape how we navigate the globe?

“I am glad that this invitation has been extended to me. I have accepted it because I see this is another opportunity to expand my knowledge and network, and to share my perspectives on critical issues around the globe. I am sure that the many people from diverse sectors I am going to meet will enrich my understanding of various issues,” said Zitto.

Other notable people invited to speak during the event include US Supreme Court Associate Justices Stephen Breyer and Elena Kagan, Rep. Eric Cantor, Brady Centre President Dan Gross, National Rifle Association of America President David Keene, United States Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice; Natural Resources Defence Council President Frances Beinecke; Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP managing partner David Boies, former Labour Secretary Elaine Chao,Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, former Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, Republican consultant Karl Rove and American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten.
